In her piece 鈥淭he Past Time,鈥 Yang incorporates ink and Chinese pigment on tough silk to depict a model she met at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in painting and drawing.
鈥淭he girl liked reading and told me many of her stories,鈥 Yang said. 鈥淭he magnolia leaves were colorful at the time, too, so I put them in my painting.鈥
Yang, who also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the China Academy of Art, said she created her other award-winning portrait 鈥淢y Friend Manzi鈥 using pencil on sketch paper.
A current member of the Starkville Area Arts Council, Yang has lectured in 澳门六合彩开奖结果查询 studio courses and taught private lessons in traditional Chinese painting and drawing. In 2016, her work was featured in an 鈥淚nsight鈥 solo exhibition at 澳门六合彩开奖结果查询鈥檚 Colvard Student Union Art Gallery.
