The Mississippi State University Department of Art offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the department offers three concentrations:  fine arts (including emphasis areas in ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture), graphic design, and photography.

Advanced Studio - Graphic Design develops advanced studio skills and professional practice.

Art 4630 | Advanced Sculpture

Assignment #1 "Sculpture Sign" 

Objectives:

  • Create a SCULPTURE sign for permanent installation at the sculpture area entrance.
  • Each of us will produce a dimensional letter spanning approx. 12鈥
  • Implement method of creating dimensional forms from sheet metal using plasma cutting and welding.
  • Letters should be painted/sealed.

 

Art 4620 | Printmaking

Advanced Studio - Fine Arts develops advanced studio skills and professional practice and is taken with Senior Research and Thesis courses to create capstone artwork.

Art 4610 | Advanced Painting

Advanced Studio - Painting develops advanced studio skills and professional practice. The course encourages analysis and criticism of aesthetic, social, ethical and related issues.

Art 4600 | Advanced Studio 鈥 Drawing

Advanced Studio-Drawing is an advanced study in drawing offering further development of studio skills. The course encourages analysis and criticism, development of personal aesthetic, and further exploration of content and expression.

Art 4443 | Alternative Color

Alternative Color teaches alternative photographic processes in color with emphasis on aesthetics.

Art 4413 | Advertising Design II

Advertising Design II is an advanced course requiring interaction on a professional level, working with realistic agency-client situations in order to develop efficient, distinguishable and competitive promotional campaigns.
