Summary:
Dr. Bimal Balakrishnan is the Associate Dean for Research in the 澳门六合彩开奖结果查询, Art, and Design at Mississippi State University. He is also a Professor at the School of Architecture.
His research and teaching interests are at the intersection of design, 3D visualization, and human-computer interaction. His research agenda explores the potential of advanced digital media, including virtual and augmented reality, to visualize and simulate human-environment interactions to solve problems across disciplinary boundaries. His research has been supported by federal agencies as well as industry. He currently leads the newly formed Simulation and Interactive Visualization Applications Lab (SIVA Lab) at Mississippi State.
He received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kerala and started his career as a licensed architect in India, contributing to the designs of multiple award-winning architectural projects. He then earned his Master of Science in Architecture and his doctorate in Mass Communications from Penn State University. Prior to his current role, he served as Chair of the Architectural Studies Department at the University of Missouri from 2018 to 2021 and as faculty since 2008.
